2008 Tournament is underway....click on the news link for more information 2008 Mock Trial Schedule Oswego County Mock Trial Program      The Oswego County Bar Association invites local high school students, grades 9-12, to participate in the Annual NYS High School Mock Trial Tournament. The local portion of this competition is co-sponsored by the Bar Association in partnership with the Weston Hyde Oswego County Educational Foundation, area schools and other county and local agencies. The state-wide portion of the tournament is sponsored by the New York State Bar Association's Committee on Citizenship and Education, The New York Bar Foundation, and local county bar associations throughout the State. The local teams battle against each other to earn the right to represent Oswego County in the final rounds of the State-wide tournament. Each member of the county's winning team recieves a cash scholarship, payable up heir graduation. All of the members of last year's winning team earned a $250.00 cash award! To learn how to make a tax deductible donation to the Mock Trial Scholarship Fund, please contact the program coordinator.      The goals of the program are: to further understanding of the law, court procedures and our legal system; to help increase proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and reasoning skills; to promote better communication and cooperation between the school community-teachers and students-and the legal profession; to further the students' appreciation for academics; and to raise awareness and provide insight into law related professions.      The Oswego County Bar Association's competition would not exist without the generous support it receives from the judiciary, members of the local bar association, court system personnel, as well as numerous county and school officials. Trials are judged by sitting Judges from our City, County, Family and Supreme Courts, and other attorney volunteers.
